Basic terms
On this page you can find explanations of some terms that you may not have encountered so far and which are very important for website development as well as for digital marketing.
URL and keywords
A URL is the address of a page on a particular site or the location of a file. For example. The URL of this page is https://vlalovic.com/pojmovi/ You can see this address in your browser, at the top in the long field where we type the address and which we call the address line. These addresses are used to identify pages on the Internet (just as every house has its own number, so websites have their own URL).
URL for SEO
When we talk about SEO optimization, the URL refers to the page on our site that we want to optimize for Google. This can be any page within the site (not necessarily the home page).
Google Advertising URL
In advertising, a URL refers to the page you want to use for advertising (the so-called landing page). This does not have to be the home page of your site but any page within the site.
Keywords are phrases we use when we search for something on Google (it doesn’t have to be just Google). When we open the Google page and type e.g. “car sales” what we typed is the keyword. In practice, we generally distinguish between short-tail and long-tail keywords. Short-tail are keywords that consist of 1-3 words (mostly) and long-tail are keywords that consist of multiple related words.
For example. short-tail could be the keyword “car sales” and long-tail could be “car sales mazda cx-7 belgrade”. Short-tail words are generally much more competitive and expensive to optimize and advertise compared to long-tail but it certainly depends on the area you belong to.
Keywords for SEO
When we talk about SEO optimization, the keyword refers to the term or phrase that we use in the search and for which we would like a better position of the pages from our website. For example. if you are engaged in furniture transport in Belgrade, then it is logical that you would like to rank for the keyword “furniture transport belgrade” or for its variations. The keyword is optimized for a specific page or URL of your website and this does not have to be the home page.
Keywords for Google Ads
When we talk about Google advertising, keywords refer to phrases that you would like to advertise or that you want your ad to appear for. For example. if you are engaged in the transport of furniture in Belgrade, then it is logical to use the keyword “furniture transport Belgrade” for advertising purposes. In advertising, these words are necessary because based on them, we make an analysis and estimate the budget needed for advertising.
